Though I’m from North Carolina, I never spent a lot of time in Asheville. Once I moved to Atlanta, I found that Asheville is the best 3 hour get away from the traffic and smog full city. Our bed and breakfast of choice is Asia Bed & Spa. It is located close to main downtown Asheville, so it is very convenient for shopping and eating at all the tasty restaurants Asheville has to offer. Asia Bed & Spa was first bed and breakfast plus Spa in Asheville. The owner’s have a rich history of owning and running bed and breakfast’s in the area.
As an Interior Designer that has traveled all over Asia, I love the mixture of Asian inspired design with a classic architectural bed and breakfast style house. The owner was great and let me take pictures of their different style designed rooms. Every room has its own jacuzzi tub.
I have stayed in a different one every time I go. The optimal north south fung shui direction of the smaller room upstairs is one of the best nights sleep I have had since the earthquake in Japan. The first picture shows a custom wood made bed by a carpenter from Tennessee. Each room gives a completely different feel and decor with similar amenity perks like a big comfy bed and jacuzzi tub.
Access to their steam room and outdoor sauna is available complementary for all guest. The passage to the outside sauna evokes a zen quality and design to relax you before you even enter the sauna. For extra an onsite esthetician can give you any massage, facials, etc… The outdoor sauna features a cold rain shower so you can properly cool your body down after a detoxifying sweat.
As the food lover and snob that I am I was thrilled by the breakfast provided at the bed and breakfast spa. In the main dining room you can go down and take a tray to make yourself a healthy and extra tasty breakfast assortment. We had fruit salad, bread assortment, beverage bar, tomato/mozzarella/basil fritta and a slice of coffee cake with a fresh fruit and cream.
You can take your breakfast tray back to your room for a little breakfast in bed, or lounge in common areas like the serene sun room or coffered ceiling living room.
Couples packages at Asia Bed & Spa begin at $475. I highly recommend it as a weekend or midweek get away for those living in Charlotte or Atlanta. If you are visiting the great town of Asheville then it is a wonderful place to stay. They have great space to even throw a wedding or family reunion. Enjoy the food and rustic, classic Asian inspired classical design of one of my favorite get aways. I leave this post with a couple of my favorite intricate decorative details that caught my eye.
