Bento Diaries continues with the fourth diary in the adventures of learning how to make the perfect Japanese bento box. These little mini-hamburgers are SOOOO good. I loved the taste the touch of nutmeg gave the hamburgers. I used ground turkey meat (dark meat). I bought my little flower cut outs online. She gives great advice on how to pre-make these and freeze the burgers, which will make it easy to make this bento box again quickly down the road. I didn’t do that this time because my husband ATE THEM ALL before I could. Next time I will double the recipe and freeze some. Practice makes perfect folks. Join me in learning how to make bento and check out Makiko Itoh’s book The Just Bento Cookbook.

My Changes:
- Brown Rice (short grain)
- I skipped the cheese flowers and only did carrots.
- For my fruit I did a WONDERFUL mix of chopped pear with blueberries. The riper the pear the better.
- Dark ground turkey meat instead of ground beef.
